Bent pin (ground) in USB 3.0 connector

Working on a new build using a MSI Z87-G45 mobo. The sideways USB 3.0 connector killed me because I waited too late to plug it in, so that I ended up doing it blind from above. I think I was trying it upside down or something, because when the board out to take a look, the pins in the connector were pushed in all sorts of crazy directions. I managed to carefully re-position them, enough so that the cable just about slid in all the way. This time when I took a look, every pin looks great EXCEPT (of course) for one that is completely mangled. It's pin #7; a ground, according to p.21 in the manual.

What would be the consequences of using this connector without this ground pin? I have an 3.0-to-2.0 adapter that I could get by with using in the meantime. If the lack of that redundant ground means static is going to build up overtime and potentially ruin the board, I'd prefer not using it.

Thanks for any help
