Power Supply Issue?

Hey I recently build a new system (yay!)

But I've keep having issues with it. I also don't know if this is the correct place to post this. Anyways,

I bought a Gigabyte B75 HD3, 4GB Ram Kingston HyperX and a 3470 and finally 1 TB 7200 RPM WD Green, and also a Gigabyte Powerrock 500 Watt PSU.

These things work fine without any issues. But the only thing that is wrong is sometimes when the PC boots, fan spin, and turn off right away. So I looked into it and there is nothing wrong. So I took it to a Expert. He told me that the Power Supply is too powerful for the system. Thing is I am going to buy a GPU the end of this month, and I don't what to do, I fear if I buy the GTX 760 there is still going to be some issues.

What do you guys think about this? is the system going to be fine after this? I'm just depressed over an answer. How can I also fix this issue until I get a gpu?

But mainly. I just want to know if the PC is going to run fine when I get a GPU.

ahaha the expert said " the Power Supply is too powerful for the system". He clearly knows nothing.

Don't worry about it, your computer only draws what it needs from the power supply. The 500w rating on the psu is a maximum power it can provide.

you should be fine with a new graphics card.

btw I didn't quite understand the issue? is there a problem or not? you mentioned you found nothing wrong with it. if you are having issues, a new gpu will not fix it.

The PSU is less then two weeks old; it worked fine the first 3 days I used it (I guess that's cause I used 3 HDDs and a GT 520 and a extra fan). Then I removed those, after that issues appeared. Such as the PC not booting, fans spinning and turning off the very next second. the PSU is fine, I know it isn't the best quality out there, but it's like the only PSU's you can buy here. But yeah, he said the power supply is too powerful for the motherboard only.

That's what I thought too. But couldn't be. I mean everything is in its place and in the correct place too. It's a very weird issue. At one point I thought it was the ram? but no wasn't.

But my friend, its working fine sometimes. I mean it just takes a lot of times of rebooting moving RAM etc for it to work. and when it does work I don't even know how it does. Just luck I guess.

PSU is working fine. Because I was with him when he plugged another PSU. I haven't updated my BIOS, nope.

Okay, too make it a bit more clear for you guys. This is the stuff I did;

I changed the screen, (yes might be a stupid thing to do but yeah). Still no progess.
I changed the RAM and put it in the other slot, Still same issue.
I changed the RAM and put another one, Still same issue.
I put a Geforce 210 GPU, Still same issue. (But I guess cause the my GT210 is broken from before I think)
I unplugged PCB cable, and placed it back in. Still same issue.

The only thing RIGHT now I can think of is the CPU fan, maybe it's a bit loose? I guess that's the issue because I saw temputares rise a bit, didn't think about it before.

Right now, I will wait till I get back to home, then I will go to the guy myself and see again. This time I'll let him install another CPU fan and see... And let him install a GTX 760, too.

Updateing BIOS is a very easy things to do. Make sure you have 1 stick of memory in that motherboard before flashing. And unplug like DVD ROM and 2 hard drive. And other USB that are unplug.

when getting BIOS go to the website and look for the motherboard model and look for the download of a BIOS follow direction and extract the BIOS and put them on the USB flash drive.

Okay guys. Turns out the issue is more stupid then I thought. Appearently, everything works fine. EVERYTHING.

But, not together. Odd, right? Turns out the motherboard and PSU aren't really compatible together. Really stupid

So now, I have to look for a 550 Watt PSU that is compatible with the motherboard, which would be the Gigabyte B75M HD3

Ouch that is awful I understand how frustrating it can be.. You can get a good brand like Rosewill, Corsair and Cool Master, Antec, Seasoinc, Visiontec, EVGA, XFX, Zalman And the best is PC power and cooling.

Oh my I forgot to tell you guys or update on what happened. Well as I said it was a issue in the power supply, so I got myself a Antec 550Watt PSU. Today, it's working fine so far. The Power supply somehow got damaged and that's it.

Thanks so much
