I can't install any games from CD, all installers freeze, programs install without a problem.

A week ago my laptop came back from repairs. It had a graphic chip replaced or something like that. After I got it back I turned it on everything was just fine. I decided to install my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate Edition.
After I was done installing all the standard drivers, I installed a game from ISO image, Outlast. Worked perfectly fine.
Played a bit then went to sleep. The next day I tried to install my copy of Far Cry 3. It just froze at a certain point and my laptop was stuck.
Tried a few more times, didn't work.
Tried to install other games. Didn't work.
Installed some programs from cd and iso images, worked perfectly.
So it freezes only when it's from games. Steam games work perfectly, League Of Legends works perfectly.
Also boughy Advanced SystemCare 7 in the hope that it was just a problem with the registries. It didn't work. I don't know what else to do besides reinstalling windows.
I'd rather fix the problem than reinstall Windows.

HP Probook 4525S
Processor: AMD Athlon II P360 Dual-Core 2.30GHz
3 gigabytes of RAM
64bit Windows 7 ultimate
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470. [DXDIAG says approx total memory: 1650 MB, but I know that my Graphic card is a 512 MB one, change occured after the chip was replaced]
If you need any more data, please say so.

Go into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer -- Take a peek at the application / system events to determine what the root cause is. My assumption is that it has to do with the HDD or RAM. I mean, FarCry 3 is a pretty massive game and would put a lot of pressure on your system - I also assume the game would need at least 4GB of memory.

*Make sure that the events you discover line up with the installation attempt times.

Tazplay - the thing is I played it on this laptop before, worked like a charm. I seem to lose myself in that "Event viewer" for the moment

rgd1101 - my mistake, dvd, the original dvd, so it's not a pirated version of some sort, it should work, since it worked before my laptop was in for repairs

Does the DVD just contain the ISO? Can you attempt to copy over the ISO to your C:\ and then run it through a virtual drive.

Have you tried re-installing the disc driver? I took a quick look at HP's website for the optical DVD drive and it appears to be a common issue with this laptop. Try one of them as your solution --

Yes I tried to install from ISO too, same problem. I reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows now, hoping that it will fix. I will install the drivers I need and then I'll try to install the game again.
