So I was going to order this PSU right now http://www.ebuyer.com/393120-corsair-cx-series-cx750-atx-power-supply-750watt-80-plus-bronze-certified-cp-9020015-uk But after doing some research on the PSU I see a lot of people complaining about the horrible whine noise that comes from this PSU under load.

So I really need an alternative, Please try and stick with alternatives at the same price range although if that's not possible then please recommend ones at higher prices as I'm willing to push the boat a little.

Cheers people :)

Hi again - Fairly sure you'll receive the modified version. But, if you look at the review & read Corsairs statement on the
Revision, it doesn't seem to me (but I read it a few weeks ago) that all the issues Hardocp raised were addressed.

I'm concerned that Hipro/Chicony has yet to my knowledge established an above average reputation as an OEM.

ive used seasonic ocz and corsair couger and coolmax , with good luck and yes some models do have issues it is just a matter of you getting one that dont. like us all you got to read up on the ones you feel that your system needs and make the choise and hope it was right eaven with the ''good'' ones you may sadly get the lemon now and again.

Looks pretty good that XFX one sincreator, would prefer a modular PSU though to be honest as that XFX seems to have a lot of cables that will need tucked away. Other than that it looks perfect and it not being modular isn't that much of a problem, but if anyone can recommend a modular one at similair or better quality then please do.

junkeymonkey, are you suggesting that the corsair 750watt could not have the noise issue and it may only be a problem with some of the batches? If so i suppose i could try my luck but please keep recommending as I want to order tonight.

Hi - Yes, coil whine can occur randomly even in top quality PSU's.
I agree that if you like the XFX, get the modular version if you can afford it:

With OCZ (& PC Pwr & Cooling) in CH 11 Bankruptcy proceedings, I'd stay away until the dust settles
because of warranty support, etc.

i ended up with a seasonic x850w so far so good and its not a rebranded like the ones in the article link i tryed to give you from toms. you got to look over the article and undrestand what there ttalking about find one you like the look for reviews to see is it all they claim or a rebranded knockoff or the real deal.

Well I'm just going to go with http://www.ebuyer.com/545319-corsair-rm750-fully-modular-750w-80-gold-psu-cp-9020055-uk

Looks very decent, fully modular and 80+ Gold. Can't go wrong really, yeah its pricey but probably the most important part in the system is the PSU and i've had so much bad luck with PSU's lately blowing up on me that I really can't take another explosion risking my newly purchased parts I'd be devastated if the got fried due to a poor PSU.

So no doubt spending that little extra will pay off.

Thank you all for your input you've been a great help, and Merry Xmas to you all. Have a good one!

Hi - Just be aware the RM750 failed Hardocp's(one of the top review sites) lab review. Corsair has since had it modified,
but I wouldn't spend that amount of money until it has passed a trusted lab review. With a new OEM (Chicony/Hipro) that isn't otherwise well regarded, I'd wait.

Interested and worrying, will I receive the modified version do you think? Because if not i'll be cancelling the order now. Is their any better PSU's at the same spec as this one with the same price tag, i'll spend £100 on a PSU.

Either would be fine, if you're not happy with Corsair's explanantion. I feel better about the XFX gold as it's
OEM is Seasonic and I'm biased towards Seasonic as my own unit has been flawless.

I'll be gone for a few hours, so won't be able to respond again till about 8pm your time.
Corsair has a very good warranty, so you may want to try the RM & see how it performs.

Well after reading http://www.corsair.com/us/blog/rm750_and_850_thermal_issue/ it has installed a bit more confidence in that model so have re-ordered. Just hope i don't receive an old model with those issues. Thanks for the information and suggestions.

Hi - Very unlikely you would receive a unit that hadn't been modified. Besides tweaking the units being mfd,
Corsair most likely pulled the unsold inventory off dealers shelves and had those modified as well.
