Does your connection affect your frame rate?

Lately been playing BF4 on my new Gaming PC, and just wondering if your connection on a 64 man server can affect your frame rate. I thought this because when I play on the BF4 Test range (Offline match) I get about 140-160 FPS on ultra but when I go into a Online Match (64 man) I get about 60 FPS on the same settings, which I understand there will be a frame rate drop taking into account the bigger map and online players although more than a 50% drop seems a bit strange to me, also when I did the BF4 in game test in the menus it said something about my connection and that it is bad which again backed this up, And I get good signal and about 20 - 40 meg download and 10 meg upload and my ping is about 50 which I would say is good. Sorry for dragging on but I just wanted to go into as much detail as possible and if you have any more questions please ask, I would really appreciate the help.
