Good evening,

I've got a problem with my Sapphire R9 280X OC BF4 Editon Dual-X.

My PC Specs are:

Processor Intel i7-930
Mainboard Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
Memory 3x 2GB Corsair XMS 1600
GPU Sapphire R9 280X OC BF4 Edition (Had a Zotac GTX 480 AMP! before)
beQuiet! 700W
Windows 7 64-bit

I am able to run Windows 7 with the Catalyst 13.6 Driver which was on the CD. But as soon as I try to run it with 13.9 , 13.10 or 13.11 beta9.5 my screen goes blank after the loading screen.

I've tried several things so far:

  • Freshly installed Win7 and uninstalled everything
  • Tried an other screen
  • Tested it with all my PCIe slots.
  • Flashed my BIOS
  • Installed Service Pack 1 and updated everything
  • Checked my ATX Plugs to make sure that the card gets enough power

  • I was able to play FarCry 3 and Bioshock Infinite at Ultra settings and MSAA 8x without problems with 13.6, hence I don't think its caused by insufficient power.
I do not have an onBoard Graphics Card.
Sapphire Support told me to just keep 13.6 but doesn't R9 200 Series support start with Catalyst 13.10?
They aswell suggested that my Mainboard might be too old and wouldnt be able to run the new drivers, but my friend owns the same GPU and his Mainboard is 5 years old while mine is 3. He installed the card within 5mins and installed 13.10 without problems while I've been losing my sanity for 3 days now.
Even BF4 told me to install at least Catalyst 13.9 and after all it's the reason I bought the BF4-Edition for, right? So why am I not able to run the new drivers?

I am at wit's end and I hope you can help me.

    Greetings from Germany,

    Riegel

it could possibly be a psu issue, try using alternate pcie 6x power connectors/cables on the gpu to check.

the 13.10 does come with support for the 280x so even if it was working it may not have been working at full power.

Unfortunately I haven't got any alternate power connectors :( .
My old Zotac GTX 480 AMP! had a higher power consumption i think.

    Thank you anyways ;)
