I have an asus K56C laptop with:
- a hybrid GPU (intel HD integrated and 740m dedicated)
- a i5 3317u CPU
- 4GB of ram
I am running windows 8.1 pro on it. Whenever I play dota 2 ,the game runs smooth for a random period of time, and then just randomly crashes to desktop. Whenever that happens I get a dump file. I get this problem with other games too, just random crashes to desktop and dump files being generated.
I have tried updating drivers and running the game on very low settings, but the crashes still happen. I have also tried making dota2 run exclusively on the dedicated GPU from nVidia experience, but this did not help either. The annoying thing is that there is no apparent pattern to the crashes, they just happen randomly.
Another thing to note is that if I run the game in windowed mode, I get a partial game 'crash'. More precisely the game graphics freezes on the frame it is on when the 'crash', but I can still hear sounds in the background. Also the character seems to respond with sound whenever I click a move order and also it seems to get killed if I leave it unattended. So basically all of the game works except the display. At this point I need to close the window and start the game again.
Does anyone have a clue as to why this happens? Any ideas of what to try in order to fix it?
Below is the most recent dump file produced by a crash, in case it helps.
