Removed my nvidia gt 630 drivers and card and put in nvidia gefore gtx 770. After doing so the acer screen comes up and 3 short beeps spaced out. Then it is a black screen with a flashing _ .Tried reseating both the ram and the card. Out of ideas. Please help. I have enough power, ram, hard drive space etc.

Are you sure that gtx 770 is good ? Try it in other PC to be sure that is not bad card, something like this happened to me. Are you getting some picture on screen ? For example BIOS Post

I get the options to go to bios and display boot menu but both of these lead to black screens as well

Try reseting bios by removing batery from motherboard for 30 sec. And try boot with that old gt630, if it works install drivers for gtx 770, put gtx 770 back a try boot. And make sure in another computer that gtx 770 is not bad.
