how to fix a loose connector on a verbatim external drive

I have a verbatim external hard drive. It connects to a device via a USB/mini USB. The mini USB female connector on the hard drive is loose inside the device, and subsequently, it won't connect fully to the male cord.

Is there a way to repair this without replacing the internal parts?

many thanks for any help on this.

Someone would have to eyeball it on the inside and see exactly what the issue is. A loose physical connection can only be fixed with eyes and hands on.

Agree with the above - chances are the solder joints have failed, negating the connection between the connector and the PCB inside the drive. But unless you pull it apart there's no way to tell.
