Hi, I think my Haswell is overheating. Bios of MSI GD43 reads 55-59 degrees but HwMonitor reads around 39-42. Im not sure what one to trust, Im not using the stock cooler im using the Akasa intel performance low-profile cooler which is better than the stock cooler. All bios' are up to date**

I was thinking maybe i need to get water cooling but im not sure if the H100i will fit in my case. (enermax fulmo basic case- ECA892BG-BL)

Any replies would be appreciated. thank you

Yeah, that's either a bad, or a fine temperature. HWMonitor usually displays multiple temperatures, what exactly is the name of the 39-42C temperature?

Also, what are your temperatures under load? Keep it from going to or above 80C.

Try installing Speedfan to see if you can get the temperatures lower while still keeping a bearable noise level.

Finally, reinstall the heatsink and make sure it's done perfectly. Just for reference.

I also would recommend running a Prime 95 Torture test to see where the temperatures go.

(Did you overclock the CPU?)

HWMonitor reading was package under max. And no i havent overclocked its still running at 3.5ghz. I forgot to mention when i put it under 100% load on prime 95 temperatures go above 90 and some cores into the 100's

Im sure the fan is installed correctly as i have removed and put it back on 3 times now.

speed fan says the core temps are all in the 20's and it just becomes too noisy if adjust the fans.

any other solutions??

Not really a solution, more of a cause of this issue. Intel is now using crappy thermal paste between the CPU die and the heat spreader, instead of the solder method. The thermal paste eventually drys up and becomes crap, so your temps will SOAR. My friend was using a 3770k with an H100i and his temps were around 45 C at stock clock speed. Many people have taken off the CPU heat spreader and applied far better thermal paste and their temps are better. I would recommend just getting the H100i and wait until Intel gets its head out of its *** and uses the solder method again.

Thank you very much. for the help. I think i will just use my current cpu cooler and then get a corsair h80 in the summer... i dont think theres space for a h100i in my case :'( :( :(
