Alright so, I have looked in bios and disk management and the drive is there but windows wont recognize it in the computer section, its just not showing up i've tried formatting it with the magician they give you but its "frozen" and it told me to unplug the power cord for the ssd for a few seconds, which i did, but to no avail. I've looked over the internet for a hour now and there isn't much out there about this and i'm not sure what else to do. I'm running windows 7 and i'm out of options.

Solution
Ah ok. Go ahead and do that then. I'm assuming Disk Manager is reporting your drive as "Unallocated"? Create the simple volume, give it a name if you want, and everything should be ok afterwards.

Its brand new, i just got it today and the wizard for it shows all the details but in the "secure erase" section of it which i guess is like a format section for it, it tells me that its frozen.

Format it through Windows. The drive won't show up under "Computer" until you do. In windows, go to Disk Management in the control panel. You may need to type "Disk Management" into the control panel search. You can also find it by opening the control panel, clicking System and Security, then under Administrative Tools, click "Create and format hard disk partitions".

After that's done, you can do a data migration to the EVO, or whatever you had in mind :)

JohnPMyers I'll add to this by saying a big thanks I had the exact same issue as the OP, recognised in Bios but not in Windows, followed your steps and its solved.

Brilliant stuff, another issue solved by Toms Hardware and its posters.

Hey Norman, Glad I saw your thread. just did a build and had 3 additional drives, same problem. Apparently when I loaded Windows, it formatted that drive, but the others were not recognized. I've heard about this, now it occurred. Was unhooking and trying to isolate, then found this, thanks, tim
