I am planning to complete my first build. I am a uni student and I want to make a computer that is future proof for about 5 years, I couldn't be bothered with overclocking, I multitask a lot and I use programs such as adobe suite and auto-cad and some other engineering programs. I'm not a gamer but I do watch HD movies. I have had my laptop for 5 years and I only have 200gb of storage in use so a large amount of storage is not important to me but speed is. Currently this is my list of components I am choosing;

cpu - intel i7-4770
motherboard - asus h87-pro
ram - crucial BLT2KIT4G3D1608DT1TX0 (2*4gb)
ssd - crucial M500 480GB ssd
power supply - corsair tx-650m
case - termaltake urban s71
os - window 8.1
antistatic band
total cost = $1305 AUD

To save the money at the moment I don't want to get a graphics card or a optical drive. My questions are what is everyone's thoughts on the components I have chosen so far? What are some computer screen recommendations that are around 24-25" and relativity cheap. And also a graphics card for my needs? and finally should I get a mid or full tower if I want the tower to be smaller without losing performance/future proofing?

Solution
the i5 cpu if your not gaming are fine. with adobe and auto cad an amd 8350 with eight cores will be faster then intel i5.
with ssd you want to use them for your boot os and few aps. you want to use a storage drive to save your data. ssd have a limit set life of writes. put in a blue ray drive if you want watch movies on your pc.
