Dropped External Hard Drive

My external hard drive fell from roughly 29 inches, and when I plug the usb into my desktop, Windows does not detect it. It is a Seagate 1tb, and was on when it fell. It has lots of important files that I need to recover, so should I send it to DiskSavers?

Before you do that I would try to see if Linux can see it. If you don't have a computer with it you can just make a bootable flashdrive using UnetBootin and boot from the flashdrive which wont affect any files on your computer
