Hey guys, I just recently purchased a GSkill Trident 2400MHz 1.65v DDR3 memory http:// paired with Intel Core i5 4670k and Asus Maximus VI Hero. The salesperson told me that it is not recommended to run the memory on the motherboard because of the voltage. And according to the motherboard's manual, "it is recommended to install RAM modules rated under 1.65v for to protect Intel CPUs."

Now my question is can I downclock the GSkill Trident to act like a normal 1.5v RAM or I should just return it and get this GSkill RipjawsX DDR3 2133 (rated @ 1.5v - 1.6v) http://? Also if I can spare my Trident, will it harm the CPU in the long run? I really like to pair the red theme of the Maximus VI Hero with these modules. Thanks and sorry for my English.

Your fine, in fact believe they are even certified by Intel for their XMP profile (at 1.65), 1.5 is aimed at the CPU at stock with entry level 1600 sticks
