[SOLVED] R9 290 Availability

I'll be in the United States for a couple of weeks (tops) right after Christmas and wanted to get an R9 290, but it seems to be out of stock on EVERY retailer I know.

Well, granted, I don't know many, only the more famous.

Can anyone help me?

I know the custom cards will be soon on the market, but this 'soon' is probably later than my flight back, so I isn't an option for me, unfortunately.

A bunch of greedy pigs bought up all the 7950, 7970, 280x and 290 to mine LiteCoins.

A 290 will probably cost you $500 or more if you manage to find one.

Consider the GTX 780 instead?

Thanks for the quick replies guys.
One question, though. Does it matter if the brand is Diamond, Asus or Sapphire?

If I buy a Diamond, will I be able to use Sapphire's Trixx? Or it is against recommendations?

290's are in high demand too high infact, hopefully you get Hynix memory but any reference model should do. You can also flash PT1-PT3 bios if you need to up to 1.4v using Asus tweak

I don't know what this Hynix is.

If it isn't asking much, could you explain?

Also, I ask about Trixx because it seems they recently (few weeks?) issued a patch (I believe that's not the right terminology) to deal with the fan speed problem. Will I be able to solve that with a Asus/Diamond/Gigabyte version?

Hi - Yes the patch should work on all those. There are currently only reference R9 290's in the marketplace, and
the fan problem is with the reference version.

I would suspect in a few weeks when the non ref 290's start to show up, the cooling, noise levels will
be improved anyway. That's usually why the non ref versions exist.

You might want to wait a few weeks. Also, maybe by then the price will come back down.

Yeah, I don't know if I can actually wait. I'll be on the States for just a few weeks.
Better safe than sorry I guess.
