Okay, so the main problem with my laptop (windows 8.1; 64-bit) is that it can no longer connect to my home wireless network. It's not a router problem, as I've had this before and had to pay someone I knew to fix it... but the fix was relatively simple and I don't have the money or resources to keep doing this).

The laptop can still connect to other networks (I.e. my school network and I can tether data off my phone). The person who fixed my laptop the first time had told me that it was a software problem, and that the laptop had 'forgotten' the network's configuration. It still recognized it, but when it came time to connect to it, it took extended periods of time and then it would just not connect.

What the person did was they opened up a smaller black window (he opened it through run... not sure what he ran exactly) in the main screen and 're-wrote' the information to connect to the wireless network. They did this in about 5 minutes... if anyone has any idea of what's going on then it would be much appreciated if you could help me.

some stuff to try:

Method 1: Perform Network adapter troubleshooter.
a. Press Windows + W key on the keyboard..
b. Type troubleshooting in the search tab and press Enter.
c. Click View all on left panel.
d. Click Network Adapter, new window will popup.
e. Follow the on screen instructions.

Method 2: Enable Wireless service.
a. Press Windows key + R and type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER.
b. Scroll down to find “WLAN AutoConfig ".
c. Right-click “WLAN AutoConfig “, and then click Start.
d. Check if the issue persists.

Tried both methods along with the 4 which were on http://www.fixedbyvonnie.com/2013/10/how-to-fix-limited...... < that website had the closest solutions which mimicked what was done to repair the computer the first time. (None of them worked which was somewhat depressing... I've restarted my router and done all the obvious stuff as well (install pending updates, restart computer, restart the router etc.))

Maybe if I provided more details? It takes a long time to get any response (I always get 'connecting to the network it taking longer than usual' and then it fails to connect. This isn't happening when I'm connecting to my phone/school wifi). Not sure if this extra detail made any sense or not.
