Screen changes resolution on its own (dual monitor setup)

I'm currently running two LG monitors, when I was running just one I didn't have this problem but now with the new LG IPS224V-PN monitor my screens resolution keeps changing on its own. I have a vga cable (dsub) in the main monitor and a hdmi in the ips, I recently switched to a hdmi thinking the dvi I had previous had problems but I'm still having the issue. The video card I run is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 and the processor is a Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU. Now I'm asume it has something to do with the monitors because at first the ips was going in power save mode until I switched to a vga/hdmi setup and now its just changing the resolution, and the worst part is that it doesn't do it at any certain time or point that I noticed, it may happen hours apart or even seconds apart after I switch back to my normal resolution. It always reverts back to the stand resolution of the monitors though (1920 x 1080) normally I have my resolution set to 1024 x 768 but it seems to do it in any resolution I have it set to. I've tried updating my video card and messing with other settings on the monitors and the dual monitor settings but I can't seem to find a cause. I was considering doing a "clean boot" and trying to see if that'll help me at all but I would prefer not to.

Hopefully someone out there who knows more about this than me can help, and if you need anymore information on the specs of my computer I'll be happy to write them down. Thanks!

*Quick notes* (For those who rather not read through my mess of writing)

-Screen resolution changes randomly
-Always goes to 1920 x 1080
-Dual monitors
-Happens no matter of previous resolution
-Never happened until I installed my new LG IPS224V-PN monitor
-Vga on main monitor, hdmi on second
-Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630
-Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU

Thanks again!

I've never, ever heard of something like this happening.

WHY would you run at 1024x768 when you have a 1920x1080 monitor?

If it's due to scaling then that's easily solved:
a) change the DPI until you're happy with the scaling (right-click desktop->resolution-> "make text...", and
b) use CTRL+Mouse Scroll to change web pages
c) You can also add a tool to FIREFOX called NoSquint which prescales pages

At 1024x768 you're either STRETCHING the image or you have black bars on the side. Your text also wouldn't be as sharp because you're using less pixels per character (less than scaled up but not as sharp as running natively).

Other:
There are other settings you can play with. One of your monitors should be the MAIN screen, and one should be the EXTENDED monitor. It's probably set right.

Additionally you can either scale using the GPU, or scale using the MONITOR. Either way, you should be using "Aspect Ratio" as the scaling method.

It's under "adjust desktop size and position" in your NVidia Control Panel.

Perform Scaling on-> GPU
Scaling Mode-> Aspect

VGA and drivers: You should install your monitor drivers when using VGA or if it shows "generic monitor" for DVI/HDMI/DP otherwise GPU scaling won't work properly.

Set your MONITOR to scale by ASPECT RATIO.

The resolution changes based on the game I'm running 1024x768 is the resolution I run for the game I play the most, but it happens no matter what resolution I have it set to. Even when I just turn the pc on and its set to its recommended resolution 1920x1080 it would act the same way, when it does it makes the same noise you would hear if you unplug something from your computer then both my screens turn black and when they turn back on its set back to its recommended resolution.
