Hi guys, I would just like to ask what are the things I have to configure in the UEFFI Bios of GA-970A-DS3P in order for me to overclock my FX 8350 to 4.8 ghz (if that is possible using only a Master Cooler Hyper 212X. If that is not possiblle atleast 4.5 would be fine as long as It is safe and would somehow make my proci living longer hehe). I am finding it difficult because I havent seen someone overclocking the FX 8350 using this mobo.

Any help would greatly be appreciated
my specs by the way are the ff:
Proci: FX 8350
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212X
Mobo: GA-970A-DS3P
SSD: samsung Pro 840 (OS) Win 8.1
Case: Ostrog Enermax Black
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16 GB

Solution
My mistake, the turbo core speed is 4.2 for that chip.

the 8350 is stock 4.0ghz but has something called turbo core that boosts it up to 4.2ghz when the cores are loaded.

the 970 chipset and it's lower number of VRM's is going to limit what you can hit, but as for what settings to change and best way to overclock is.

and this one here http://www.overclock.net/t/1348623/amd-bulldozer-and-piledriver-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboard Although this one is for Asus, the settings are pretty much the same.

Now your chip already does 4.5ghz with it's turbo core when it needs it, keep that in mind.

The basic things though to do for overclocking is disable turbo core, increase the multiplier till you get to a number where it won't boot or pass prime testing anymore. Then you can stay there if you want, or then start working on increasing voltage and fsb speeds, etc. There is a lot of settings for a good overclock, and really, you need good cooling, even as far as a lot of people do, to attach a fan behind the socket of the CPU to keep it cool.

Ei thanks getochkn for the reply. If I may Id just like to clarify what you mean by this "Now your chip already does 4.5ghz with it's turbo core when it needs it". Does this mean I need not have to overclock it already as it is 4.5 ghz already. Im sorry for being noob but may I ask if you could further enlighten me on this one. I though fx 8350 is up to 4.0 ghz stock only

hey nyogisanz i have the exact same setup as you except different case and i have the t4 from cooler master over clocking on this board has been tricky, with what you have i think 4.8 would be fine but i don't think it will allow it go that high. The highest i have gotten mine was 4.5 without upping voltages anything after that it won't load windows but in bios it'll show that the cpu will go higher, but i am not very good with overclocking and am having a hard time finding good info on this exact mobo. would love some help on this. also overclocking ram on this board is almost impossible from what ive found.
