Has anyone been successful in such a recovery?
My 500 GB WD Blue drive went bad. I bought a new drive (WD 1TB blue) and have been attempting to recover a backup image onto the new drive.
My imaging backup attempts failed (using both EaseUS ToDo and Acronis) because it appears (?) that it is not possible to recover an image saved from a 512 sector drive to a 4K drive, even if it has 512e emulation. I tried both the image recovery and disk/partition recovery options, and tried the sector by sector option as well.
If you did do the recovery, did you do anything special to the new drive? Like format it a different way? (I though that the image recovery would re do the format anyway)
Will windows boot from the recovered image?
Since a lot of new drives are 4K, I think this will be a common situation in the future.
