+3 Voltage warning message on my Asus Motherboard

I was on my computer today and I got a +3 voltage warning message. I immediately shut down and waited a few minutes to restart as I got a little freak out. This is my first built PC and I wasn't sure if I did something wrong. What could be causing the voltage warning?
My system specs are
ASUS MOTHERBOARD M5A99 FX PRO R2.0
AMD FX 6350 3.9MHZ 6 CORE PROCESSOR
16gigs 1600MHZ of G SKILLS RAM
240gb CRUCIAL SSD
1 TB SEAGATE HHD
XFX Radeon HD7850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
COOLERMASTER HYPER 212 EV0 CPU COOLER
SAMSUNG DVD BURNER
ROSEWILL WIRELESS CARD
COSAIR VENGEANCE C70 CASE
3 COUGAR CF-V12H Vortex Hydro 120MM FANS
Also my cpu temperature is 31C and motherboard is 27C are these number ok?

  1. Which PSU do you have? Maybe the PSU.
  2. I have an Antec HCG-520W Modular
  3. Using the hwmonitor to see the viltage value, http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/1.24-setup.exe

27 c and 31c idle is good max you want is round 50c gaming if it goes to 55c your close to max operating temp which is round 61c i think

power supply is way to low i would have gone with a 600w psu by evga.

and sounds like you have a bad 3v rail on the psu return it

to get the max out of your cooler and to keep it quiet get a aercool shark fans 120mm ( the box comes with extra fan brackets to clip on and the original fan it comes with can be dismantled to get its fan bracket i also got mx4 cooling paste

doing this kept me at a constant 27c and 40-45c under gaming
  5. Hi beyondlogic, the 520W PSU is more than enough for the HD7850, beside the Antec HCG-520W is a very good PSU that made by seasonic. http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm

You are right on the point, maybe the PSU is not good. That why I ask the OP using the hwmonitor to see the voltage value.

minimum requirements is 500w and know its made by seasonic but that doesnt mean its perfect this model in particular isnt good for 1 reason only it uses the group regulation by Seasonic S12 II which is a cheap way of regulating the rails meaning the 12v rail is usually tight but the rest can be a bit loose and maybe thats why his motherboard is going nuts the 3.3v may be loose or he got a faulty one.
  7. First you said " power supply is way to low i would have gone with a 600w psu by evga " , and now you talk about the 12V and 3V rails, so do you want to say the wattage is not enough or the 12V/3V rails is not good, or the PSU is not good?
If you say the wattage is not enough then you are wrong, we all know the HD7850 is low power consumption card, here is the review http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_radeon_hd_7850_and_7870_review,7.html if you don't read it, please read it.

If you talk about the PSU maybe faulty, then I agree with you.
  8. Voltage reading on the +3.3V is 3.312V this reading is from the Asus AI suite 2.04.01.
Vcore is 0.852, Also I did have to return the first power supply from Antec it was the 620W modular model because one of the connecting wire from the 24 pin connection was loose. The store that I brought it from did not have any more on stock so I pick up the 520W model.
  9. I haven't gotten the voltage warning again since I did the restart, if it happens again I will be returning the psu and will purchase another brand they have in the store.
  10. Yes, maybe the PSU has something wrong. If there is only one time +3V warning then it is fine. Also we recommend to plug the power core into the Power Strip at least for the power surge protection.

Reason i say wattage is way to low is he has quite alot other then that card connected to the psu
for a 520w system i really dont recomend anything lower then a 600w is because the way 80 plus certification is justified by testing in a lab under the 23c air conditions this isnt exactly real world testing hardware secrets do real world testing in 45c conditions. naturally hotter it gets the less likely its going to get to its recomended wattage of 520w

and i did read your review my issue is not the card its everything with the card would typically put all of his components in the 300w line which is fine but if his psu gets too hot he wont get to much headroom as it wont be really 520w

Also make sure you are not running any other software with AI Suite that polls voltages or temperatures. Using multiple tools with AI suite can cause erroneous readings as all tools poll the same IC on the motherboard which creates contention for polling and can cause false readings.
