We play “Urban Terror” through Wifi hotspot.

Number of players : 10
Area : 20 ft

All players play on Notebooks. Now we are using TP Link “TL-WR740N” . For creating wifi Hotspot . But we are having problem when the player number increase 5 to 8. There is too much lag. Low FPS.

Can you recommend any device of TP link ( or D-link) that is best for wifi gaming? ( budget = $100)

Or, any specification of the Wirreless Router that is required for wifi gaming?

I will start with the assumption that your hotspot is adequate to handle 10 players, although that is an important question to consider.

There are better wireless routers, but most consumer routers have issues at a small number of connections for gaming. I would add a second TP Link TL-WR740N configured as a wireless AP on the same network but with a different SSID and non-overlapping radio channel and break the players up half on each radio.

All you have to do is connect the two LAN port to LAN port, give the AP router a static address that is not in the DHCP range of the primary router (so if the primary router is 192.168.x.1, give the AP an address of 192.168.x.2 and set the DHCP range from x.3 to something like x.64), and remember that you have to enter the AP static address in the main router static address table along with the MAC address of the AP. Set your radio channel so that the main router and AP use different channels selecting from 1, 6, and 11. Give the AP a different SSID so players that are supposed to use that one can find it easily, and use WPA2/AES security.
