Morning, all! I finished my new build last night and am trying to install Win 8 from the OEM disc. But at this point, I cannot get the machine to boot from the disc. I can get the machine to turn on and get into the BIOS. I set the order of the boot devices and dropped the disc in. When the PC boots, I can hear the drive spin up, but it will not boot or begin the install process.

I then tried disabling all boot devices except for the optical drive. That didn't help. When I check the BIOS, it is registering the optical drive along with the other two hard drives. So at this point I'm a bit of a loss and any help would be appreciated.

One last thing that may or may not be related: the first time I booted the machine, it booed directly into the BIOS configuration. Once that worked, I went ahead and put the setup into the case. Now when I boot I get the BIOS screen, but if I don't hit the F key, it won't go to the configuration screen and goes black. Again, not sure that this is indicative of anything. Thanks in advance for any assistance you're able to offer!

Oh, lastly, I have the ODD plugged into a SATA III port, because I had a spare one available. I cannot determine what version of SATA the ODD uses, bit assumed that SATA III was backwards compatible and that this shouldn't matter. Correct?

Best,

Jonathon

Yes, this is a legitimately-purchased OEM disc. Straight from Newegg. As for the motherboard "accepting all formats in ntfs mode," can you be a bit more specific? Is there a setting in the BIOS I should check?
