i sold my console and am building a spare pc with an old 320 gb hdd and gtx 550ti for now.

so all i need is a psu mobo and cpu.

im looking at the msi 970A-g46 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130637
amd fx6300
evga 500 watt psu.

I have a few questions i cant find the answer to.
1: how good is the msi 970A? will i be able to do a light overclock (4.2ghz) down the road with probably a h80i

2: will the 970A-g46 work with the fx6300 out of the box without bios update? cuz I honestly don't know how to flash bios bc ive never had to.

I would prefer a cheap board if the 990fxa-gd80v2 isn't necessary. I would prefer the 990fxa but, I'm trying to keep this build as budget friendly as possible. I'm spending the money i sold my xbox for! pc all the way!

thanks for your help in advance.

no, the board is really bad and known for many problems. its known for weak vrm's, thats why they actually dropped the support for the 8core fx series. for oc, best would be a 990fx board, but also a asus m5a97 r2.0 or a gigabyte ga970-ud3 will do the job

ok. thank you. thats the one ive been eye balling lol. I don't see the option for sli.. but oh well. i never have used sli before. my main pc has a gtx 670 so when the 800 series comes out ill put the 670 in this guy but the 550ti will sure as hell look better than the xbox 360. maybe even the xbox one and will do perfectly for now. ;)
i like gigabyte but have never had anything of their's hope they're on par with msi.
thank you guggi4 you've been of great help.
