Hello
I'm confused, please help.
I have a HP Nvidia Quadro4 980XGL that i pulled from a HP workstation xw8000 I had as a backup. My main pc died on me, so I've been using the HP for a few months. I didn't have a DVI cable so I swapped the video cards and I've never used the 980XGL. I recently looked it up and they sell new for $200 - $300. That confused me since the card came out in 2002, can it really be worth that much?
I'm planning a new pc build and that's more than I wanted to pay for a GPU. I was thinking around $150.
I tried to find compatibility or comparison information on the card and most of what I find is from 03 / 04. I searched for it on PcPartPicker and nothing.
So my questions are:
What modern video cards can i expect to be on par with the 980XGL as far as performance?
How/where can i find options and how limited am I as far as compatible motherboards?
Anyone want to make me an offer for the 980XGL?

Thanks in advance.
Merry Christmas!

Hi
Dude .......... this GPU is AGP model ....... you can`t install it in new system motherboard .......
So about the performance - even Intel Integrated GPU f.e. HD IGP 4000 will outperform this card by x 4 .........

Thanks. I figured a ten year old card couldn't be any good. Amazon has a new one listed at $340 so I figured it was worth looking into. I might try to EBay it, but I doubt anyone would be interested.
Thanks.

thats because its a video editing/ compute card. the quadro FX series is NOT for gaming at all...the new quadro series cards are upwards of 3000 dollars, so by comparison, 300 bucks isnt really alot of money for an old quadro series card. For 150 your gonna be pretty limited. If your into gaming, I would reccomend spending atleast 240 as you can get a nice gtx 760. If not, just upgrade your cpu to haswell and go with onboard video.

Is your HP Nvidia Quadro4 980XGL still available? I might be interested in buying it as a backup to mine on my xw8000. You can contact me at aberube@sprynet.com.
