1 gb vs 2 gb for video cards

I am looking for a video card, but I don't really know the importance from 1 gb to 2. I have 1, 1600x900 res monitor. I have no intention on upgrading to 2. Also, can you recommend me a decent card for $100-130?

First of all(what gpu's do) the ram in gpus, render the picture, 2 gb+ is more future proof, for a 1600x900 you're not gonna be needing that. I suggest this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129282
this is 2 gb, and you only pay slightly more for the extra gig.

Go ahead and get a card with 2GB. I wouldn't trust that Visiontek card though. You are best to spend a little more money and get one of these cards:

What are your full system specs? It may be that the rest of your system may bottleneck a good graphics card making getting anything decent graphics card wise pointless.

Yes, then don't short yourself and go with a 2GB card. And don't go with the Visiontek also because its a 128bit card. That is a big limiter.

That would work. Its one of the best cards for the under $200 dollar price point. If you decide to get a gtx 660 TI, get a 760 instead; much better.
