Do you really need to know networking to be a computer repair technician (or computer technician)?

Technically no but you really should.
Barebones you should know and understand the basic networking concepts found in the CompTIA A+ certification.
As a tech you are only as useful as what you know/can do so the more you learn and retain the better.
