I have 8GB of RAM, only 4GB is usable? Help please.

Hello,

I've recently upgraded my computer and one of the new components I bought was memory.
I have two 4GB sticks making a total of 8GB.

However, my computer can only use 4GB even though Windows recognizes there is 8GB, I'll attach a screen shot of what I mean.

I have to note I have 64bit Windows 8 as well.

If you could help, I would very much appreciate it!

yes....you format your system drive and install the os anew.

do not forget to backup all important data and download all the latest drivers (full installer files) before doing so

I don't even know what a RAM drive is, so I guess it's safe to assume I didn't.

I have no idea, it's been there ever since I installed the new MOBO and de-registered my copy of Windows, could that be the issue?

No, it just booted up from my old hard drive that already had Windows installed on it.

I activated it, and I'll restart to see if it recognizes it, and if doesn't, what do you mean by clean install? Install of OS?
