I woke up one morning and discovered my computer at home isn't detecting my hard drive, so it can't boot into the OS at all. After some testing, I found that the SATA ports on the motherboard seem to have died, so I'm trying out new ways to boot my system again without replacing any hardware.
So my question is: Is it possible to connect my SATA hard drive to an IDE port on the motherboard? If so, what would I need, and will it even work if I managed to connect it?

If you have PCI/PCIe slots available you can get a SATA add-on card.
