asus 17.3-inch laptop vs custom built $900 desktop without periphials

I am going to buy a computer soon and am deciding on building my own desktop or buying an asus g750jw-db71 laptop. The desktop could be a better option but I need to do school work too so I may need to take my pc to other places.

I was just wondering what the performance difference would be between these two computers.

My desktop is going to be cheaper because I have to add in all the periphials and I live in Australia so prices are higher here

Although the MSI laptop offers longer warranty so it's your decision to make.
