So , soon i'll receive my financial help (i think at least 900-1200€ )so i want to build a Workstation ...

I need your help in choosing the CPU(based on OC capabilities,performance/price , power consumption etc) Case,MOTHERBOARD,SSD (i think ~120gb for the OS),PSU,and Refrigeration Stuff ... (as for the RAM it must be at least 32gb ,and i already have a GPU (6850) i dont need any CD/DVD/BLURAY writer... )

The Workstation will be used mainly in Photoshop (i want there to be no lag ,absolutely zero delay when drawing with brushes over 1000 pixels on Big Canvas),Painter 12/X3, Zbrush ,3ds Max (rendering, big scenes etc) maybe some video editing (AAE) and a bit of gaming ,but not so much...

In general i want this workstation to be future proof at least for 3+ years

Thank you in advance for your help ,cheers! ;DD

Where are you located?

I don't think you need 32GB of RAM, 16 would be plenty... What you should consider though is a newer, nVidia GPU. Photoshop uses CUDA, for which you need a GTX card. Something like a GTX660 would make a big difference in performance, more so than extra RAM.

I just picked a country with Euros, so prices may change based on your location:

thanks ,i live in spain, is it really necessary to buy the Gtx 660 ? i mean .. that PS is moving toward OpenGL and OpenCL(amd strong point) ,isnt it ? i use photoshop for drawing mostly ... and moderate retouching.. is there any substantial difference beetween a 3770k ,4770k and 3930k ? I really think that 32gb would be necessary ,as in the most forum on Adobe are saying to stuff as much Ram as you can ... there are people who say that PS eats all their 32gb ;DD

If they are moving away from CUDA and going to OpenCL/GL, then yes an AMD card would also work well. The R9-270X would be a good option.

There is no reason to go with Ivy Bridge over Haswell as the prices are essentially the same. You don't have the budget to go with LGA2011, so the 4770K is the best choice in my opinion. If you would feel comfortable with more RAM, then by all means go for it. Perhaps get a 16GB kit to start, and if you see yourself needing more, buy a second.

I would not recommend getting 16 GB of RAM while considering adding more in the future. Matching RAM can be tricky! If you think that you'll need 32 GB of RAM, then by all means, just go for a matched set of 32 GB modules from the start! A matched set now will prevent future potential problems caused by minor inconsistencies between 2 different sets purchased at different times.

Yeah you definitely need a solid GPU for any sort of graphics design. It will put less stress on the CPU. I don't think overclocking a rig would benefit your uses though, and I would suggest getting 16GB of RAM in a 2 x 8GB configuration and then you can add another 2 x 8GB configuration later on.

This is what I would do (using website PC Componentes.com) :

Case: Corsair Carbide 300R - 69.95 €
PSU: Corsair TX650M - 85 €
Motherboard: Asrock H87 Pro 4 - 83 €
CPU: 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7-4770 Socket LGA 1150 - 255 €
RAM: 16GB (2 x 8GB) Kingston Hyper X Beast DDR3 2133 MHz 1.5V - 152 €
SSD: 120GB Samsung 840 Evo - 85.95 €
HD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda ST 7200 RPM - 52.95 €
Optical: Lite On DVD Burner - 15.5 €
Video Card: Gigabyte Windforce 3X NVIDIA GTX 760 - 230 €

Total (with VAT) : 1029.35€
