Will this CPU and GPU go well together?

Well, its a good combination, though Intel would be more preferable. Since you have a AM3 motherboard, the cpu is good. But i would like to add that most games dont use more than 2 cores, sometimes 4, but rarely. I dont really see the point with 8 cores, but AMD has made it their trademark to have alot of cores so theres really no way around it. You could save some money by buying the gx 6300 instead, with 6 cores.

The card is very good. I would like to recommend the MSI or EVGA.
