Looking for help about power supply issues or motherboard problems with my computer as it won't turn back on and I'm open to suggestions or tips to get it working again.

Solution
Hi there,

So the issue you are having is that the computer just won't boot up when you press the power button? Is there any indication that it is on, such as fans spinning?

1- Ensure the outlet you are using has electricity in it, I know it's basic but sometimes it's just that, so try an outlet which you are sure is working.
2- Ensure all cables inside your computer are well connected, sometimes a slight bump can make loose a cable.
3- Use a multimeter to check if the power supply is outputting electricity and check what voltage it's reading, it maybe that the power supply is not working at all or outputting a low voltage not enough to boot your computer.

If the reading is normal then it most probably your motherboard, which we will discuss what you can do after your perform the check,

If the reading is 0 or low (you can read off the power supply what the output voltage/amp should be) then your power supply needs to be replaced.

Let me know what happens in order to further help you,

*** All my answers and posts are merely suggestions which you perform at your own attempt, risk, and responsibility.

No, nothing happens, as in only the front blue led comes on and nothing else will start. The CD drive won't even make noise. Thought it was the power supply, so I swapped it out with a new one, but nothing changed, so I have no clue what to do.

1. Tried 3 different sockets, and the original one actually had my monitor plugged into it which was still powered so it wasn't the socket.

2. Rearranged all the cables and replaced power supply to see if that was the problem, but nothing changed.

3. I don't think I have one of those, but I will see if I can borrow one from a friend or buy one if possible, but again my power supply didn't seem to be the problem.

If it's a laptop then there is a chance the screen might be disconnected from the inside. Otherwise it could very well be your motherboard.

If it's a desktop computer then please make sure all components inside are well connected, this could range from a bad graphics card to a bad motherboard so you need to test your graphics card elsewhere to make sure it's working, or test another "known to be working" graphics card on your computer.
