Is Windows 8 Worth Getting?

I'm thinking about buying Windows 8. Is it worth it? I play alot of games, Battlefield 3 & 4, Counterstrike Series. My folks also do bookwork and stuff on this PC. So my only question is, is it worth it? Thanks :)

Windows 7 decreases performance a little bit, if you choose to use Windows 8 for playing games then you're right.
Windows 7 have more background tasks then Windows 8 and the background tasks take more RAM and CPU usage.
Also Windows 8 user will be able to update to Windows 8.1 without paying.

What's the alternative? Do you want to BUY Windows 7 instead? Or have you already got Windows 7?
A better question would be which version to buy, retail or OEM, Core or Pro.
