I've been looking around for a replacement mobo for one of my lappies sittin around, an HP dv2815nr, and noticed there are a few Intel-based, rather than AMD - which is what is currently in there (fried)... out of curiosity, anyone know if I can just throw in the Intel mobo, reinstall Windows, and use it? I would think the rest of the hardware would be interchangeable, but would like to verify that before buying the Intel mobo.... anyone?

Solution
U cannt change laptop Motherboard like Desktop boards......In desktop MOBO u can easily Install and remove the Processor,GPU etc.....but in Laptop .....it's "solder" to the board tat is called integrated ....u can only remove RAM and HDD

i cannt explain more than tat.....

Perhaps.. I'm just curious if it's possible. AMD TL-60 in there right now, and would like to - if it's possible, again, just thinking here before actually researching - throw the Intel mobo in there with an Intel T9300.. But I'd just need to know if the mobo's would be interchangeable first.. I can't see a reason why not, but would like it verified...

You mean the little bit of hardware - lcd, keyboard, usb port(s), speakers, mouse/buttons - wouldn't be compatible with the Intel mobo? Is that what you mean is integrated?

I just don't understand what it's integrated to... the motherboard has everything on it. Keyboards, LCD's, everything you'd need to replace if it failed on either Intel or AMD is identical.. so what exactly is it integrated to? The motherboard has everything on it.. I mean if the USB ports were different, I'd just slap the Intel models in there.. not a problem. I just don't understand what, exactly, is "integrated." Doesn't make sense...

yes, the GPU is integrated, CPU's are not. But I'm talking about replacing the entire motherboard, everything on it would be changed over to Intel, including the CPU. I've upgraded plenty of laptops before and this wouldn't be a problem. What I'm wondering is if the hardware connections would be the same - and I believe I've just answered my own questions... keyboard, lcd & usb would all have the same connections regardless of AMD/Intel motherboards... Thanks for the help though!
