I was changing out the screen in my Aspire One D22 Notebook. I guess I was preoccupied and forgot to pull the battery ( It was dead anyway) When I was hooking up the new screen to the cable connector it sparked. After I put it all back together and tried to start it, nothing no sound, no lights, nothing on the screen. My guess is I fried the motherboard, but before I buy and install a new one I wanted a second opinion. I tried starting it with only the battery and then only the power cord and then both. Still nothing

It could have been a short circuit due to the cable being live. I don't think you should buy a new motherboard as we are still unsure if it is really the cause of the blackout. I suggest that you cut your losses on that laptop and buy a new one. You can recycle its HDD, and RAM if they are still working and sell the other remaining parts to someone else.
