Hey there folks,

Looking to purchase a new monitor (upgrade from my current 1680*1050 res) but am not looking to spend >£180. I am looking at IPS monitors as i prefer a better colour image than response times - though no slower than 8ms is ideal. I have found two deals on amazon.co.uk. - could you help me decide - i will be mostly using the monitor for gaming and video:

1) Dell Ultrasharp u2312HM (£154)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-Ultrasharp-U2312HM-inch-Monitor/dp/B005SNNCEA/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1387370888&sr=1-2&keywords=DELL

2) Dell S2340L (£167)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-S2340L-Widescreen-Monitor-1920x1080/dp/B009HM54SU/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1387371159&sr=1-1&keywords=Dell+S2340L

thanks.

both are good monitors and probably some of the best in the price bracket of under £200 so its really down to taste as going by reviews and feedback there hard to split. so i would go with the 1 i liked the look of when its on the desk doing nothing.
the 1 ms difference in response time is minuscule, image quality and clarity are good so yeah the only real difference is the aesthetics.

just remembered my mate has the dell ultrasharp you listed and it is a sweet screen. lite bleeding isnt an issue and the colour depth is way better than my samsung. so saying as i have seen it in action on both gaming and video i would probably go for that 1.

People may call me strange but i prefer the gloss finish over matte. Also the u2312HM has reported to have a grainy appearance in bright colours. The 2340L does appear to have more ghosting and is more expensive. Damn this is hard!

like i said i have seen the ultrasharp at my mates and can honestly say i didnt notice any grainy image. but if your unsure maybe your best bet is have a trip to pc world or curry's and see if they have em both in stock and check em out before you buy. £150 is still a fair size hole in your wallet if you dont like the results.
