Hi i recently downloaded some software and i have got a virus as a result. When i turn on my pc it comes up with the error "An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drivers that don't contain an operating system.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. I know that this is a result of a virus so i run my pc through the disc drive and i put in my windows 8 disc to restore but it comes up with a blue screen saying
" There was a problem with a device connected to your pc
An unexpected I/O error has occured.
Error code: 0xc00000e9
This problem can happen when a removable storage device is removed while it's in use or is failing. Properly connecting any storage device and restarting your pc may fix this problem."
Press enter to try again
Press F8 for startup settings.
Im guessing this is the virus again because i don't believe this is a fault of the disc.
I have then tried to find where to restore in my bios settings but i cannot find an option to restore my pc there.
My pc is new and i don't want to have to pay alot to fix it, please help.

Hello... Did you buy a Store sold PC or is your PC a custom build? IF you have the Windows DIsK, use "Custom install" you just have to use it's "advanced disk options" to delete the Partitions on all your drives and your Virus is gone... If you have a Windows KEY, just get the ISO file and make a BOOTable DVD or USB, with the microsoft utility "ISO to DVD/USB" and you have the same install/screens/software as the DISK...
the Virus will not be in your BIO's, it is on your Hardrives... Reloading Windows and your 'Good" programs will Make you whole agian.

New hardrives can fail, all electronics fail within 30-days of use Due to manufacturing defects... thus you have a warranty on your new PC.

Hi i got a custom made pc and i have a windows disk but i am unsure of how to get into the advanced settings of the disk itself to use custom install if you could give me some guidance as to how to get rid of the partitions and do the custom install i would appreciate it

Hello... here is a great guide for you... http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/ss/windows-8-clean-install-part-1_9.htm Only connect one drive at a time for your partition deletes... just exit the windows install disk for each hardrive, and don't let the Windows install start.
Dont let the drives talk or tranfer a Virus to your cleaned drives!!!

and like the notice said, please re-check your electrical connection of your drive, if you don't think it is a virus.

This IS a faulty Hard Drive, there is no VIRUS. Your Drive has failed, could be simply the plug in it is loose to the drive itself is hosed.

Based on your VERY lack of any technical experiance ( i am unsure of how to get into the advanced settings of the disk ), we cant' walk you through every step here on a forum, you have to have some basic knowlege about computers and how to technically fix them. Trying to walk you through 'blind' on how to access BIOS, check the drive functionality, download and burn DBAN to a disk to wipe the drived (BY the way YES you lost all your data), monitor during these things for results, how to remove and install a replacement drive, etc. is all VERY DETAILED AND TERRIBLE over a forum chat, that will only frustrate you more.

I would HIGHLY suggest whomever 'built' this for you you contact and show them the problem.
Otherwise bring it to a mom and pop IT store for service.
