Hello everyone,

I've been shadowing these forums for a while now. I really like the hardware advice you give people and I'm looking for some myself now. I intend to take advantage of some Christmas sales to start my first build. If you guys can give me a build to start out from I can adapt it to sales I see over the season.

Approximate Purchase Date: Within the next two weeks.

Budget Range: 800-1000 Canadian

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, watching movies, surfing the internet

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: New Build

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Would prefer to not have to buy parts form a dozen different places. But I'm happy to shop in multiple locations if it'll save me some decent money.

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Parts Preferences: I have no preference between AMD or Intel. A good balance between quality and value is what I'm looking for with other companies.

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe later if it makes sense versus buying a new card.

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080p

Additional Comments: I'm planning to play it mostly on my TV. So being able to get above 1920x1080p is a non issue for the short-midterm. Good multitasking capabilities would be good. Gets used for University school work, email clients etc that I may not be able to close all the time.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Mostly so I can max out or significantly improve performance in games like Empire Total War, Total War Rome II, Starcraft 2. I also want to be able to take advantage of multi-platform game titles that get good deals on Steam/Origin like Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls Skyrim or Assassins Creed and future titles.

Thanks for your help everyone.

Also the CPU itself is a very strong for price in multitasking as well as gaming !
