Which ports di I use for dual monitors?

I have an old samsung monitor and I was hoping to use it along with my main monitor which is 1920x1080 and 144hz. The samsung is 1680x1050 @ 60hz. I am pretty sure you can't run diffrent refresh rates so i will change that. Don't really know about resolution. But the samsung monitor has only a DVI-I cable. would I be able to use both of my DVI ports on the GPU??? it is a PNY GTX 770 so it does support multi monitor........ I just want to be able to show someone that the monitor works.

You can use both DVI ports on the card and the card will display the native resolution of each monitor.

Cool. I did not know you could have two diffrent resolutions. So when I want to fire up the samsung can i plug it in to the GPU while in Windows???.... I ask a lot of questions because i know just enough to run programs and games and set up hardware to the point where my PC does not set on fire

You can have different res, hz, whatever. And the ports don't matter other than the correct port to achieve 144hz for that monitor. You can plug it in anytime, I don't see why you specifically mentioned during windows.

In the Nvidia control panel you can also switch between monitors for the main display if you wanted to show the Samsung for surfing or apps purposes.
