Power supply and mobo arent connecting?

I have a cx 600 corsair psu and a msi 970a g46 mobo but the 24 pin connector doesnt want to fit into the mobo. Everything lines up perfectly but i cant press down the connector too far, there is a latch on the mobo but i cant get the connector to reach it. I have pics if anyone wants to gimme a hand. Thanks

Does the connector go down into the MB socket at all? Check to see that pins and socket holes are straight and open. If it does go down but not all the way then try gently rocking it to ease it into the socket. You may need to use a bit of force as these connections are often tight. You can also try pressing the latch away from the socket with the eraser end of a pencil to open it a bit as you press the connecter down.
