im using a corsair tx650, do i have to use one of the 4 pin molex connectors and plug it into the mobo for the fans to work? or do are the fans self controlled?

the psu only came with molex conenctors with 4 pin holes

TIA

Solution
Fans connected to motherboard headers get power from the standard ATX 24 pin connector, which powers everything else on the board. In some cases individual fans can be connected directly to the PSU through MOLEX connectors though they would then lose the ability to moderate speed (they'd run at full all the time)
The power supply will take care of its own fan.

Older units(or ones I have modded) used to allow you to see the fan speed, but even then, you never had to plug it in if you did not want to.

Some power supplies also used to control fan's in the system with special "fan only" connectors.
