My most impt laptop (hp) has screen problem. It's goes through the whole boot up without screen lightening. I did all those suggested in found other than replacing in inverter and cards. Attaching it to an external monitor gave the errormessage unsupported device. So I decided to connect it another laptop (dell) using Ethernet cable and is able to see the other pc as unidentified network. So I was excited to just access and transfer my files from my working laptop but it requires username and password which I never had. I do not remember setting it up. Anyway I tried all kinds of ID names or passwords i would have used including admin and blank password or the word "password". Nothing worked. How can I go past this considering I cannot go anywhere inside this laptop without providing these 2 things? Both laptops use windows vista.
I do not have any CRT monitor but have two flat screen monitors that i tried connecting to the hp laptop as substitute monitor unsuccessfully - "device not supported" What am I wrong? Or what else can I do?

First off, we can't assist with getting around passwords in here. Period.

If it was 'your' laptop, why is it asking for a password that you never had?
