i have a HP - ENVY TouchSmart Sleekbook 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop - 8GB Memory - 750GB Hard Drive. it has crappy graphics but the upgrade on hp only allows nivida geforce 740. can i get that graphics card (external) or higher for this computer. also do you need specific type of external cpu for this computer?

you didn't exactly specify your specs, but considering the price and it being a mainstream laptop, chances are, the CPU & GPU are non-upgradeable.

no such thing as an external CPU upgrade, though there is an external GPU solution, either by vidocks or DIY external GPU adapters. the downsides are;
-costly.
-not exactly portable-friendly
-currently limited to express card connection, which many modern laptops have dropped support of. going through all the hassle to mod it for connection via USB can result in some complications, apparently.
-you're likely to experience a massive bottleneck. you could get a GTX 780, but you're likely to see the performance of a 650ti out of it. add in the cost for the adapter (at least in vidock's case), and the costs just doesn't justify the means.
