I have an Asus GTX 650ti, and an Asus Maximus VI Hero motherboard.
When i turn on the computer the cpu fan works, the interior fan works, the hardrive spins, the sound card light is on, the start/reset/temp monitor lights up, and the graphics card lights up.
However, I just can't get the monitor to work. Every time i turn on the PC it says "VGA NO SIGNAL", The monitor has an HDMI cable that plugs into my graphics card, which has an HDMI to VGA converter. Graphics card itself only has VGA and DVI-D port.

I attempted to plug the monitor straight into the motherboard, but my mother board does not have an HDMI or an VGA port. (??? is this supposed to be like that)

I plugged the monitor into my laptop, and it works great.
What could be going wrong?

Hi, can you please provide pictures if you can from the internet that is your gpu and what is your monitor and how was it connected to the laptop?

the motherboard should have a hdmi port under the optical out,

What cpu do you have? the hdmi on the motherboard is for igpu for integrated graphics if the cpu supports it.

^ this is the graphics card. My monitor is an Asus VE247. My CPU is intel i7 4770.
I plugged the monitor into my laptop by plugging the power cord into a jack, then plugging the HDMI cable into my laptop.

Where is the HDMI cable on the mobo?

Also, I did some research about post beeping. My pc does not make any beep noises with speakers plugged in. I also tried booting with only one stick of ram, but my pc went crazy and started turning on and shutting off over and over again, with the temp monitor flashing numbers ranging from 30 to 70.
Does that info have to do with anything?

Your cpu supports igpu. If you remove the video card and just use the motherboard's hdmi port when you find it, should show a picture. Inserting a graphics card might disable the igpu function in bios by default and may need to be turned back on if using discrete gpu.

The motherboards hdmi port is located left at the bottom next to the two stacked blue usb 3 ports under the black square border with a grey plug cap(optical output).

Both your monitor and gpu have hdmi.

Using this cable?

Did that cable come with the monitor or something? i don't have one. will look for one.

I did some more research and found this:
http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?37472-Maximus-VI-Hero-no-video-signal

instructions were to
1. Download the 0804 BIOS from Asus website.
2. Format a USB pendrive to FAT32.
3. Extract the BIOS file and rename the file to M6H.CAP.
4. Put the BIOS file on your USB pendrive.
5. Connect the USB pendrive to the the USB port that's right below the USB BIOS Flashback button.
6. Press the USB BIOS Flashback button for three seconds until the LED begins to blink, then release.
7. Wait until the LED stops blinking.
8. Power on your system.

that worked for somebody who had the same problem as me.
however i don't know how to follow those instructions. any tips?

yes correct.

sorry, more info again:
my 24 pin power plug that goes into my monitor seems to not be able to go all the way in. It stays in place, but is not locked into the motherboard by the little clip. I can't push in anymore, it won't budge.

there are 4 leds next to the 24 pin plug on the mobo.
CPU_LED
DRAM_LED
VGA_LED
BOOT_DEVICE_LED

when i start it up, cpu led flashes once, goes away and dram led comes on. Dram led stays on but nothing else comes on.

anyting wrongwith that?

wont be any good flashing your bios if you cant get a picture. When you get a picture, find out the bios revision then proceed if newer is available.

The bios has a utility called ezflash. Downloading the latest bios from Asus for your motherboard and loading it on usb thumb drive that is formatted Fat32. Bios will not read ntfs.

It may be the problem, but i have a feeling its the cable and connection being used.

I plugged the monitor into my laptop by plugging the power cord into a jack, then plugging the HDMI cable into my laptop.
Im not understanding this correctly i dont think, can you please explain power cord, or is this to the power socket in the wall? and what the cable looks like with hdmi you're using.

Put the two memory sticks in the red slots and find the reset switch. the reset switch is the little box next to the ps2 (purple/blue plug) it has written on it Bios with two circular arrows. press and hold it will reset the bios.

The reset button is used if changing bios settings results in not booting. Good for if overclocking went wrong, its a safety measure to reset bios to factory defaults to try again etc.

So you've tried with 1 memory stick, that didnt work. so youve put them both back to their original slots where the computer was running without display correct?

Can i please have a picture of the video cable you're trying to use.

ok since youre using conversion to analog, on your monitor you'll have an input selection button. It is a button with a square and an arrow pointing inside it. Check that and see if changing the monitor's input mode helps.

Looks like the dvi converter is DVI-D (all digital) and the one with the cross instead of dash is DVI-I which carries both digital and analog. Vga is only analog so using this plug is not helping. If changing input mode on screen does not help, the best option would be to purchase an only dvi or hdmi cable.

the cable youre using between these two connections is no good for the digital picture being sent. Sounds like youre using a normal vga cable between those two adapters.

Your laptop has a 15pin vga video output doesn't it?

And you tried toggling input mode with monitor didn't you? You'll have digital and analog modes, cannot use both simultaneously, its either the one or the other

For the DVI-D only cable i don't need the converter, the monitor directly connects to the GPU.

My graphics card does not have a VGA port.
By toggling input, do you mean switching between HDMI, VGA, and DVI?
because i toggled between them all and none work.

Pressing that button just cycles through hdmi, vga, and dvi
My monitor came with a pure DVI, and a VGA with the converter.
i tried all the combination including both at the same time but nothing works D;

Just do clarify, is this just a connection issue? or is something wrong with my hardware?

Its becoming more clearer now.

At this point, if using the dvi cable is not working, and the 6pin power is connected to the GPU from the psu, then you may have a defective gpu.

Get yourself a hdmi cable, this will rule a few things out. Using it on the gpu and hdmi slot on the motherboard. If you can get a picture from the motherboard and still not from the gpu then theres something wrong with the 650ti.

Sorry to hear hdmi wasnt the answer.

If Dram light is shinning red yes, it means the memory isnt operating properly.

How many sticks do you have and what are they?

If dual channel, try them both in the black slots. Shouldn't matter red or black, long as they're both in the same color if only using two memory sticks.

Also, that bios reset button, make sure you press it when the system is on - when the dram light is lit red. button wont do anything if theres no power to the system.

I have 'G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL"

I tried them both in the black slots, and my motherboard went crazy again and kept shutting off and turning on.
I pressed held the bios button for 10 seconds while it was one but nothing happened.

Also, since i haven't configured the bios at all yet, why do i need to reset it?
