Hey everyone, so my brother is building his AutoCad computer, and the budget fits a gtx 780. We have decided to switch cards, so he'll take my card for his build, and I'll take the 780. I have a gtx 770 by evga, and the reason I want to go with a 780 is because sooner or later, I'll want a dual 1440p monitor, or a 2-3 1080p monitor system. I find that EVGA is a great brand, maybe I want to try a different brand lol.

So It's either ASUS, MSI, EVGA, or Gigabyte. Or maybe get a reference cooler from either. I have no idea on OC'ing my card, so I don't think I'll Oc'ing.

I have that exact same EVGA ACX GTX 780 Superclocked. It's an amazing card. Totally silent and lets me max every game so far at 1920 x 1080. I have not even tried to overclock it yet but as is, factory overclocked it's faster than a Titan.

I will say this is my 5th EVGA card in a row. I love their warranty and support.

Wow it's really $599 up there? I paid $499 for mine 3 weeks ago and it was not on sale.

Yup, we Canadians have to pay more for some reason. Hell, we pay more taxes. 13% taxes! Yup, EVGA is great, my 770 is quiet, and plays well. I'm thinking about the evga one, but MSIs 780 is pretty cheap.

Hmm, I also forgot about the R9 290x, I heard that it's much more powerful then the 780 and titan. I'm not sure. I saw you need a well vented case. I have a pretty vented case with 2 fans in the front, 2 on the top and 1 on the bottom. It's the nzxt phantom 410.

Look through these next few pages for a 780 vs 290/290X comparison.

The 290 and 290X are hard to find right now because of people using them for Litecoin mining. Prices have also gone up quite a bit on those cards if you can find them and there is no reason to buy one with a reference cooler. The reference coolers are junk plain and simple. The aftermarket cooled cards have only become available in the last week or so and do not overclock any better than the reference models.

Ahhh I never heard of "litecoin mining"? But that's interesting. Actually, my local Canadacomputers store has 3 sapphire cards, but did some more research, and they get super hot at 95C! A gtx 780 stock cooler is at least better and is cooler lol.

But I saw the MSI lighting edition 780. It look like a super card, but I don't like that price lol. $600 bucks. And sadly, they don't offer a classified gtx 780 :L. I'm thinking I'll either go with the ASUS or EVGA card. The twin frozr msi cooler is pretty cheap. Sadly the asus card has a backplate :L I would like that because my 770 sags a bit.

The EVGA card I have and you linked to above has a slightly higher stock clock than the Gigabyte card in that review.

Sadly I wish I can buy from newegg, but the problem is, I'm Christmas shopping haha, I'm buying the parts on Sunday, and building it. I can't really wait, buying it all one once. They do have a classic, but it's for watercooling.

Read the newegg reviews on the Superclocked version.

Very few cards or any item for that matter gets reviews that high. 1200Mhz core clocks are not uncommon. Like I said though I have had no need to even think about overclocking mine. It's already a 967Mhz core out of the box and with the boost it certainly never runs that low. A stock 780 has an 863Mhz core.
