Best External Hard Drive

With Christmas coming i am looking to treat my self to a new external HDD it will be mainly for storage and backup.

Can anybody recommend what makes are best to buy and what to avoid.

And are there any reviews on the site or on the internet on external HDDs

About a year ago, I bought a 1 TB HGST (Hitachi) Touro Mobile USB 3.0 external HDD: http://www.touropro.com/product/touro-mobile/
Although I was initially attracted to it by the low sale price, my decision was further reinforced by the high review scores for it on the site where I wished to buy it from: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/846319-REG/Hitachi_0S03454_1_TB_Touro_Mobile.html
4.7 Stars out of 5 for 334 reviews! Quite impressive if you ask me! I understand that Amazon has similar high marks too.

I have been very satisfied with this HDD and I highly recommend it!

Whatever drive you choose - make sure it is NOT your only backup for important files. With proliferation of cloud services (SkyDrive, DropBox, Google etc), you can keep multiple backups of important stuff.

I would get the drive with best warranty, and known manufacturet.
