If you could build a games console what hardware would you use?

Looking for some input as to what people think would be good hardware to put in a games console. I am not allowed to say any more than that about it just asking what people would put in their dream console. Use factors like cost vs performance when deciding the hardware but anything goes really. Not just hardware either. What would your dream console look like and what features would you give it over the current range of consoles.

Be great to hear what people want from a games console and thanks in advance to everyone who helps.

fx 8320 (threading and low cost) and 290x (bang for the buck). With programming to the metal (like console) This monster should prowide us some really nice graphics and advanced physics, AI.

The problem with most games consoles is that they can't be upgraded or modded. The ability to do that would be fun.
The other problem is most PC people like me like to build our own machines and choose exactly what we want:)

Closed architecture of gaming consols is a huge adventage. It provides you programmig-to-the-metal. Games will run better when there is only ONE configuration, you don't have to make a game for radeon, nvidia, i5 or fx. You can also push hardware to its limit and you don't have to waste money on upgrades. Have you ever seen Uncharted 3? It's running on gtx 7800 equivalent. Nice, isn' t it? Now show me game that runs and looks better even on 9800. That's because PC have an open architecture and a lot of possible configurations. NO, DON"T MAKE UPGRADABLE CONSOLES

The main problem with a console is getting rid of heat, and the power supply unit.
Using a very efficient cpu with a high instructions per clock count, like a 4770 clocked at stock or a little under,
would result in a massive performance increase over the 8350 currently in new consoles, because it is clocked at 1.6 gig for power use reasons;namely that it uses far too much. As for gpu, I would want whichever £200 unit does most for the least watts, for exactly the same reasons. Intel should have thought about this console malarky; they could have shifted several million lower binned processors with ease.
