Adding more RAM after OC

Hello,

Last week, I completed my first successful overclock taking my i5-3570k to 4.6. I currently have 8GB of Ram G. Skills F3-12800CL9 (2x4GB); however, it looks like I'm going to be adding another 8GB of RAM upping it to 16GB.

I am wondering do I need to reset my BIOS to it's original settings and then install my new RAM and go through the OC process again? Or can I keep everything as it is and simply install the new RAM? I know I made some changes in the BIOS for 1600 at 9,9,9,24 2N. So, I'm assuming these numbers will need to change in the BIOS?

I guess the easiest way of asking this question, is, should I start all over again because I'm adding more RAM? Thanks.

There is no reason to change anything in the bios if you add more ram. You may have to tweak some ram voltages after the addition or perhaps the VCCIO voltage but it won't affect your cpu OC (unless the VCCIO votage bump affects your temps, but burn that bridge when you get there as its unlikely to need to be done). In short the answer is no, but the same kit you have currently and make sure the kits are talking to themselves, (1/3 for one kit 2/4 for the other) and all should be well.

The only problems you may encounter is 2 individual 8G kits were not tested to run together as a 16G kit would have been, so worst case, you would have to loosen the timings, but if you get the same exact G.Skill 8G kit it may run together with zero problems as G.Skill is much more likely to run problem free!

Good to hear. I plan on getting the same exact 8GB set as I have installed, placing them into slots 1/3 and 2/4, as Supahos (nice name) mentioned. After I install the RAM do I need to change any of the current settings such as: 16000 9,9,9,24 2N? I'm assuming those will stay the same, correct? Sorry for the basic question, but I certainly don't want to mess-up anything now that I got a stable OC, but want to boost up the RAM. Thanks.

Good to know. I was hoping I didn't have to go through OC process again, so I will simply add the new RAM, start her up and see what readings I get. I appreciate the feedback.
