I am building a completely new and different pc and I was planning to reuse my HDD to save money. My current build is a Core 2 duo e6400 @ 2.13 Ghz LGA775
with 2.5 gigs of RAM I was planning to buy A new System which is:
CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 750k
MoBo: Asrock fm2a55m-vg3
RAM: Corsair Xms3 4gb 1333mhz
GPU: Zotac GT630 2gb ddr3
If I put my Hdd on my brand new system do I need to reinstall my OS?

Solution
Yes, drivers for motherboard are different and although you can use safe mode to uninstall old stuff, you systems performance is just not the same from a clean build.

The e6400 processor came out around 2007 so your hard drive is 6 years old. I wouldn't re-use your old HD for the OS. Keep it for data but get a new HD. You can get a 1 TB drive for $60 or a 120 GB SSD for $80. Hard drive tech changes so fast and mechanical hard drives are the slowest item in any PC build.
