Can I pair this this motherboard with my AMD Cpu?

I have a AMD Vision Athlon 2 X4 AM3 processor that i would like to upgrade the motherboard for. can i use this motherboard http:// with my cpu? I have heard the AM3+ mobos are backwards compatible with AM3 cpus so i was just trying to verify if it would work. My CPU is from a stock HP 6610f machine. The old motherboard is a Foxconn. Thank you guys!

Which EXACT CPU is it? You can check under "My Computer" or by downloading CPU-z.

Anyway it should work as you suspected. But if you are planning to upgrade the motherboard then I would suggest you upgrade it to a modern chipset, the 760 chipset that that board uses is ancient.
It will run fine with your CPU but any sort of upgrade to AMD FX 6 or 8 core CPUs on that board is bad.

Get this board instead, its waaayyyy better in quality and uses a much more modern chipset too.

I won't be upgrading to Fx as my next rig will be intel so that board should be fine for what i need. I have the AMD Athlon II X4 635 cpu. The motherboard has a 785G chipset according to HP's website.

this is true. sadly though my mother ordred me this board for xmas already... I was just trying to verify that it would work with my current cpu. thanks for your help!
